Last week, I had an awesome opportunity to help with an agricultural education event put together by my friend Jacqui. The event, called Destination Dairy, was an interactive experience designed to help elementary students learn more about healthy habits, agriculture and the dairy industry.
The older students visited Jacqui’s family’s farm, while the younger students rotated through learning stations at the school.
I helped with the story time station, which featured ag-related story books for children and related activities.
Judging from the students’ and volunteers’ responses, Destination Dairy was a complete success for everyone involved. For me, it was a chance to get back in the classroom and teach students about dairy farming, like I did for so many years as a dairy princess.
